Writing articles is a great way to draw attention to your business, and attract visitors to your website. If you are not taking advantage of this powerful strategy, you are missing the opportunity to give countless targeted customers a chance to find you online. There are a ton of places you can submit your articles, and I’ll list a few of my favorite spots below.
I still can’t get over how many people have responded to an article I wrote a few weeks ago called, A Simple Guide to Choosing the Right Keywords for Your Business. I posted it on my blog–which is still very new–but the real attention came when I posted it on Biznik, and as a result a whole bunch of people went to my website and contacted me to inquire about my services.
The reason article writing is so impactful is threefold. First, it will help to establish you as an expert in your area. Second, it will help people who are interested in your services find your website. And finally, it will create inbound links to your website, which will increase your ranking in search, and therefore improve your findability on the web.
Some things to think about before you begin submitting your articles all over the web.
- Make sure the places you select are not considered (or on their way to being considered) link farms by major search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing.
- Be sure that what you are writing about makes sense, and relates to what you do–once you’ve put it out there, it is a reflection of you and your business.
- If the publisher allows it, put a link or two in the body of your article that links back to related content on your website (use your keywords in the anchor text of the link). If not, at least be sure you can have a byline with a link to your website.
- Ensure you are submitting unique content, and not putting the same article with the same keywords and phrases on a number of different websites–search engines are on to this, and you can be penalized. I know I just said that I posted my article in more than one place, but generally speaking, it is best to limit this practice.
There are hundreds of places online where you can publish your content, so you’ll have to search around to find the best places to suit your niche. Here are few places that I recommend you consider joining (all of them are free) to publish your articles:
So have fun and let me know how it goes! I would love to hear from you when you have published something–I’ll even go read it and be one of the first to comment, share, and support your article. Just shoot me an email and I’m there! Success to you! ~Norma
